The "Grundt & Steinemann GmbH" was founded in 1978. After the retirement of the partner Steinemann and the joining of L. Grundt the renaming in "Grundt & Sohn GmbH & Co." was carried out in 1993.

Already at the time of formation of the company more than 80 employees took care of a smoothly running production and the processing of natural casings.

During the following years three further production plants were developed in Germany (Lohne, Minden and Britz/Eberswalde).

In 1984 the processing was moved to Portugal and since 1988 to the People's Republic of China, where in 1994 additional plants for processing of Chinese sheep and hog casings were developed.
